The UNESCO Regional Office, in collaboration with ARCMoW, is organizing a regional Memory of the World Workshop for the National Committees of French-speaking African countries. The workshop will be held in Djibouti from October 17 to 18, 2023. It effectively aims to strengthen and support the work of the National Memory of the World Committees of French-speaking African countries in order to induce more submissions and inscriptions of African documentary heritage in the Register International Memory of the World, taking into account the fact that Africa contains a varied documentary heritage: books, manuscripts, archives, audiovisual documents and silver engravings deserving to be promoted and valued, and accessible worldwide.
A similar workshop was organized by the UNESCO Regional Office in Montevideo in collaboration with MoWLAC for the five African Countries of Official Portuguese Language (PALOP). The workshop was held in Rio de Janeiro from September 4 to 6, 2013 at the National Library and National Archives of Brazil.
